02. Presentation of educational achievements of the College of Teacher Education for Convergence Education Program
  • Convergence Education Program Teacher Training Colleges Present Educational Results
    Pre-service teachers from 13 colleges of education at 9 universities nationwide will analyze the 'Free Semester Activity Program' developed by the Institute of Convergence Education, Korea Teachers College, and present the results of demonstrating and reconstructing lessons in the first or second semester courses of 2017 at their respective colleges. The educational results will be shared with in-service teachers in the same subject area who have applied the program in their schools through a morning meeting, and with in-service teachers, pre-service teachers, and festival participants from all over the country through an exhibition presentation in the afternoon.

 

03. Introducing Booths
  • P1 - Department of Computer Education, Korea Teachers University
    "Safe use of smart devices in the age of information security!" is a free semester topic selection program that has great educational significance in information education. This program provides students with the knowledge to be safe from hacking attacks that target smartphones and AI devices that we use in our daily lives. Students can apply what they have learned in real life, especially those who want to enter the information security field.

  • P2 - Department of Geography Education / Home Economics, Korea Teachers University
    This program aims to analyze a literary work in various dimensions by using geography, history, and Korean language courses in the process of studying the novel 'When the Buckwheat Blossoms Fall'.
  • P3 - Department of Home Economics, Korea Teachers University
    The topic of "Love and Choosing a Spouse" was selected and a block-time teaching and learning plan was designed for first-year high school students. The class aims to teach students to recognize the right form of love, to fully accept and love themselves, and to find the right spouse.
  • P4 - Gangwon National University, Faculty of Science Education (Biology Education Major - Chemistry Education Major) / Department of Home Education / Faculty of Science Education
    Various convergence education activities related to 'chicken and egg', a common food ingredient in our daily life. Through this interdisciplinary education, students can expand their thinking from chicken and eggs as food to living things that live with us.
  • P5 - Department of Biological Education, Gyeongsang National University // Department of Science Education, Dankook University // Department of Earth Science Education, Pusan National University
    The learning objective is to utilize the 15th and 16th week of the free semester system (When are they all grown up?) to give students the experience of distinguishing between immature and mature organisms during the growth process and to think about 'What is a living thing? In this lesson, students consider the answer to the question, "When is an organism fully matured?", think about the circumstances of maturity for animals, plants, and people, and learn about various jobs around us that are related to the maturation of organisms.

05. Announcement of the results of the Teaching Support Group in collaboration with Hankuk University of Education
  • Purpose and Objectives of the Free Semester Class Support Group
    • Need for human resources for student activity-oriented classes such as discussion, practice, experiment, and project classes in middle school free semester and free semester activities
    • Educational cooperation with excellent human resources in the community to ensure student participation and activity-oriented classes without marginalization
  • Expected effects through the free semester system class support group
    • Innovation of learning-centered classes that nurture students' dreams and talents by internalizing the operation of voluntarism-based teaching and learning communities

06. Announcing the results of the Free Semester Teaching Service Program
  • Purpose of the Free Semester Class Volunteer Program
    • To meet the demand for after-school programs through activities where university clubs visit middle schools with free semester system across the country and run various experience programs designed by themselves
    • Establishing and activating a system to promote a pool of classroom support personnel in local areas through networking with universities and volunteer groups
    • By activating the network between universities and volunteer groups, we strengthen the capacity of volunteer groups through consulting and monitoring by a group of experts, foster the professionalism of the classroom support manpower pool, and establish a promotion system.
  • Activities of the Free Semester Class Volunteer Program
    • Utilize local university student clubs consisting of 3-5 people (teams) with interest and knowledge in specific fields as instructors for middle school free semester activities (topic selection, career exploration, art and sports activities, etc.
    • Conducting awards and case presentations at the '17 Free Semester Program Performance Presentation,' etc. and spreading best practices by producing and distributing a casebook of volunteer programs.
  • Introduction of the Free Semester Program
    • V1 – Free Semester Program Hanam Middle School / Sugok Middle School Classroom Volunteers
      The program prepared by the 'Science for All' team was divided into four main themes: 'Light and Color', 'Medical Care', 'Forensic Investigation', 'Composition of Matter', and 'Development and Cycle of Animals'. Based on each theme, the program presents a number of related experiments and exploratory activities in sequence and in parallel, and aims to foster interest in how science is incorporated and applied in real life by working with students with their eyes and hands. It also aims to encourage students to pursue careers related to science such as medicine, forensic science, astronomy, analytical science, and biology.
    • V2 – Free semester program at Bongwoo Middle School / Osong Middle School in Daejeon, Korea
      AHRI is composed of three students from the Department of Mathematics Education at Korea Teachers University. Team AHRI aims to make math classes more enjoyable for students by supporting the actual free semester system and organizing programs to help students experience concepts that are difficult in secondary mathematics courses and make them feel fun and easy.
    • V3 – Free Semester Program at Daegu Il Middle School
      LOLL is a science experiment service club affiliated with the Department of Chemistry Education at the College of Education and aims to improve the abilities of pre-service teachers by providing experimental education service at schools based on the secondary education curriculum or linked experiments. As of 2017, the club consists of 15 undergraduate students from the Department of Chemistry and aims to conduct safe experimental activities and design lessons that children can enjoy together.
    • V – Free semester system Chuncheon Middle School / Suncheon Samsan Middle School Class Volunteer Group
      The team conducted lessons to promote students' interest in science in an entrance examination-oriented educational environment. Like the team name, 'Bioligy Of Modu', we conducted science (biology) classes that everyone can enjoy. We present science that can be encountered in everyday life to make the class more interesting, and conduct various experiments centered on living organisms to enhance understanding of science and acquire general knowledge in related fields. One field trip during the program, where students can experience science-related career booths and astronomical observations.

 

07. Announcing the results of the college career experience project
  • Purpose of the College Career Experience Program
    To share the operating results of the free semester system, which is an active career exploration activity for junior high school students by linking the career experience program of local universities with educational programs related to local industries and employment situation experience, and to help schools successfully explore careers and establish the free semester system.
  • Booth Introduction
    • E1 – Department of Transportation, Korea National University of Transportation
      Overview : The Mobile Science Lab program is an interdisciplinary science program that can attract students' interest in science subjects. It consists of a magical science show that weaves science seen in textbooks or around us into a fun story that looks like magic but contains the principles of science, and a mobile science experience center where you can directly experience science equipment that you can see in a science museum or exhibition hall. The program is designed to make it easy for people of all ages to enjoy science culture.
    • E2 –Life Science Department, Korea Transport University (Uirim Middle School Girls' Program MAKER! Arduino Project, Chungju Middle School Girls' Program Good Scientist)
      Overview of the topic of 'Uirim Girls' Middle School MAKER! Arduino Project' : Using Snap4Arduino, even beginners who are new to Arduino can easily experience various programming and complete projects using block programming and visual elements, and apply them to create their own creative projects.
      'Chungju Girls' Middle School Program Good Scientists' Topic Overview : The program aims to provide an opportunity for underprivileged children and youth to establish a social consciousness of exploring science and technology as a member of society and a sense of good science exploration by learning about appropriate technology and adopting technology for children in the third world, the disabled, and the underprivileged. In addition, through group learning in the form of project implementation using vacation periods, the program aims to give students a sense of accomplishment, confidence, and active participation.
    • E3 – Woosuk University Jincheon (Global Dreamers Creative Workshop 'LEGO Weedoo Creative Experience Education')
      Project Overview : 'Global Dreamers Creative Workshop Project' is a program for fostering creative convergence talents leading the future and is the first creative convergence experience education program in the central region where Wooseok University and Jincheon-gun work together to foster local creative talents. It develops experiential convergence education based on various problem-solving projects using coding education (such as robotics) to help local children and adolescents develop creative thinking and abilities to grow into important talents in the future society, and trains instructors to provide education to local children.
    • E4 – Samtong Edutainment (Learning Synchronization Program Activity)
      Operation Overview : A time to find the reason why I study, why I have to study! It is an activity that does not try to change students, but helps them to find and awaken their own possibilities and abilities that they have not yet realized and discovered, with a heart of "Zultakdongsi", and leads them to go together, realize their own "Only One" value, dream happily, and succeed as much as they dream.

 

08. Introducing and Experiencing Overseas Convergence Education Cases
  • Introducing and Experiencing Overseas Convergence Education Cases
    At the convergence education festival, overseas education experts will visit and introduce their cases of convergence education and pre-service and in-service teacher education for convergence education, and share the convergence education program of the Convergence Institute of Korea University. In the morning, Korean in-service and pre-service teachers will present their achievements in fusion education, and in the afternoon, a Nordic fusion education experience booth will be open for all festival participants. The three participating countries are Sweden, Finland, and Indonesia, with Mariana Back from the Swedish National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm, Sweden's capital city; Christophe Pennyvesi from Jyväskylä University in Finland's leading educational city; 30 Nordic education experts, students, and parents; and 10 professors from the Indonesian University of Education's Faculty of Education.
