The 2025 Chungbuk World Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences was held with the purpose of strengthening global research networks and advancing convergence-oriented research capacity. The conference was jointly organized by research institutes affiliated with the Korean Council of Humanities and Social Institutes, research units under the National Research Foundation of Korea, the National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as regional science and technology institutions engaged in governance-building in Chungbuk Province. |
Main Theme “The Humanities and Social Sciences in the Age of AI: Convergence with Science and Technology” The program highlighted interdisciplinary exchanges and outstanding research outcomes in the humanities, social sciences, science and technology, and arts and physical education. Key Objectives 1. To explore the roles and challenges of the humanities, social sciences, and science & technology in the AI era. 2. To establish a “glocal” perspective through international research networks. 3. To share and disseminate research outcomes in collaboration with governance-building institutions in Chungbuk Province. Outcomes The conference particularly emphasized expanding understanding of regional values and cultural diversity, while broadening international engagement through global researcher presentation sessions. By reflecting on the future-oriented significance of these exchanges, the conference laid the foundation for transdisciplinary research frameworks and policy strategies to overcome societal megacrises.
