Message from the Director
Hello, I am Seoung-Hey Paik, Director of the Convergence Education Research Institute at Korea National University of Education.
The Convergence Education Research Institute was established in 2015 in response to the urgent need for fundamental changes in education and the growing demand for nurturing talents required in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Since its inception, the Institute has been engaged in a wide range of initiatives aligned with new national curricula. These include the development of convergence education programs for the Free Semester System, professional development programs for teachers and school administrators, and the operation of field-based instructional support teams through learning communities of in-service and pre-service teachers. We have also implemented hands-on convergence inquiry programs for middle and high school students, built a mentoring system for pre-service teachers in collaboration with the Korean Master Teacher Association, and carried out diverse activities to foster creativity and character education.
In addition, the Institute has produced and distributed various publications on convergence education, hosted teacher training exchanges and workshops with international organizations, and collaborated with alternative schools and out-of-school education support systems. Our research efforts also encompass the development of career education programs grounded in the humanities, studies on convergence-based solutions to school conflicts, and research on integrating digital media into convergence education.
In recognition of these achievements, the Institute was designated in 2019 as a Key Research Institute in the Humanities and Social Sciences by the National Research Foundation of Korea. Moving forward, we remain committed to building a robust platform to advance convergence education in response to changes in the educational ecosystem, and to driving innovation in pre-service teacher education to prepare for the future.
Thank you.
